iTools Toolbox

Ok ButtonClick Admins, you spoke and I took your advice. You like the interviews, but they are a bit long. No problem. I’m going to shorten them (including today’s) to less than 4 minutes. You like the transcripts- so I’m keeping them. Really, it’s a win-win for all of us. That being said let me introduce Bob Nagy of iTools. I met Bob about three weeks ago when a suit walked in my office and said “Why can’t Salesforce email me when a task is completed?” Good question. Thankfully ButtonClick Admins have Bob who makes great tools on the AppExchange who make us look good. Mike: I am excited to introduce you to Bob Nagy who I was introduced to a few weeks ago while looking for an app on the AppExchange. I would love to tell you more about it but I’m actually going to let Bob talk more about

Monday AM Admin: Core- Tasks and Events

| June 6th, 2011 | 5 Comments »

This post concludes the Core series aimed at increasing awareness for much needed feature upgrades by Salesforce on core items users utilize daily. I would like to personally thank Andres, Jane, Matt, and Tal for writing great posts and to everyone who voted for the core idea on the IdeaExchange. Please visit (if you haven’t already) the original idea and promote it. Hey can we?… It’s no secret that I love training new users. The excitement and potential that they show always recharges my Salesforce batteries and sometimes they give me challenge- which is always good. Recently Salesforce rolled out the ability to attach files to activities, while that was nice we really need a more comprehensive approach to this critical feature. Let’s start with the basics My organization- as well as yours- utilizes tasks to

Monday AM Admin: Core- User Productivity

Our look at core feature upgrades continues this week with a guest post from Jane Isaac, a Senior Consultant with akaCRM. Jane has worked with Salesforce for over 7 years and has twice presented at Dreamforce. In her career Jane has been recognized for her innovative use of the Salesforce platform to gain efficiencies, developing new tools and automating processes. My experiences with Salesforce started in 2004 when I was a sales person who had to enter all my “stuff” into Salesforce. A few months later, I was promoted to a Sales Manager so I depended on Salesforce to manage my team. However, my REAL love affair (yes, my husband knows about this) with Salesforce began when my boss had me take over the Administration of the system (while I was still managing a Sales Team). I went to Administrator training in NYC and was thrilled to take on this

Monday AM Admin: Change

| September 20th, 2010 | 1 Comment »

When I kicked off this series back on June 21st I had two goals in mind: help people become the best damn button-click admins they can be. And give retrospect or advice on what it means to be a Salesforce Administrator- you know, kinda like being Monday morning quarterback. This post is a reflection on how I handled a minor change this week that had a major impact. Before I get deep into this, I want you to ask yourself this “How many times do you get a request that starts with “I” versus “We” or “My group”? Not a lot I’m guessing. In looking back at my cases, most all of them start with I and not we. This is the sometimes delicate balancing act that we admins deal with on a daily basis and one that I dealt with this week. The Situation Early in the week, I
