100

So here it is- post number 100. That’s 100 Mondays this blog has consistently put up a few hundred, to a few thousand words in the hopes of helping Salesforce Admins conquer the world succeed. This whole journey has been about connecting, sharing, and getting good information out there. It’s really been about you- sure my picture was on the mast head for a while. But it’s about being part of a community of people who aren’t afraid to tackle a challenge or expand their horizons. But you changed me. Yeah, when I set off to create this blog I had hoped it would evolve into something amazing. And sure enough it has- not to brag, but your comments and connections have really brought my words and thoughts to life. When I kicked off ButtonClickAdmin.com I felt like I was one man on an island trying to solve problems. I felt

Monday AM Admin: Culture jamming

Not too long ago I write a post titled “Getting your Chatter-cation“, in it I approached the adoption of Chatter from a organizational communication approach. This year I will be taking my first trip down south to Austin for the South By Southwest festival as blogger and as part of my new job as Manager of Social Enterprise. I’ve tried to follow the same mantra I use for Dreamforce by spending some quality time with the schedule and not overbooking myself (too much). That being said, if you  are heading to Austin you can check out my schedule here and hopefully we can meet up. Key sessions I will be attending- Multiplayer Work: An Idea Whose Time Has Come? Are we killing social with social? Social + Location + Mobile = The Perfect Beer Community & Influence: How Not to Piss People Off Not to mention I look forward to trying some of that yummy Salesforce ice cream and catching up with my friends at the Marketo booth! Meeting- Large

For the past two years I have been in a Communication Studies program at the University of Iowa- it’s a top-in-the-nation program. In fact, I can’t name one professor at Iowa who hasn’t wrote a book that fundamentally impacted the field of communications. Often I get the question- “Communication Studies what’s that?” Well, in a nutshell it’s the study of how humans create, interpret, and interact with each other through the shared use of symbols. I find it fascinating. I also can’t imagine a better time to study communication than right now- with the advent of social technology both outside of the workplace and inside the workplace. Being a Communications Studies student one would think that my adoption of Chatter in my org is off the charts. Fact is- it’s not and it frustrates me to no end. “Why can’t I communicate the benefits of collaborating to my coworkers?” This question haunts me. I
